Metro Pile

Metro Pile, 2013
3.5' x 4' x 6'. Adobe Stucco (cement, earth, and hay), wood, fabricated steel, cast concrete, water, plexi-glass, and light.
A ‘barn pile’ made of adobe materials is merged with an architectural structure inspired by the Metro tunnels in Washington DC. Upon first moving to that region for graduate school, I was very interested in the architecture of Metro tunnels. The bottom-lit concrete domes felt both heavy and light at once. Through similar lighting techniques, I attempted to create a floating barn pile with industrial decor.
