Voyager, 2017

Fabricated steel, adobe stucco (Portland cement, manure, earth, and straw), acrylic plexi, light.

5' x 4' x 4'

Voyager was exhibited at the 2017 North Bennington Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, in North Bennington Vermont.

Voyager is made of domestic earthen materials that contrast with its industrial and celestial themes.  The scale roughly represents that of many space probes or similar vessels of interstellar travel.  The manure stucco confronts the slick manufactured plexi dome top, which shines a warm orange light at night.  Seeming hollow and heavy, stagnant and moving, the form suggests it also may be a portion of some equipment with a lifting hook at it vertex.
