Voyager, 2017

Fabricated steel, adobe stucco (Portland cement, manure, earth, and straw), acrylic plexi, light.

5' x 4' x 4'

Voyager was exhibited at the 2017 North Bennington Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, in North Bennington Vermont.

Voyager uses very 'at home' earthen materials in contrast with industrial and celestial ideas.  The scale roughly represents that of many space probes or similar vessels of interstellar travel.  The manure stucco confronts the slick manufactured plexi which shines a warm orange light at night.  Seeming hollow and heavy, stagnant and moving all at once, the form suggests it may be a part of some other peculiar implement with its lifting hook at it vertex.
